St. George Trek
The St. George Trek is the National Catholic Committee on Scouting’s high adventure Catholic leadership program for older Catholic Scouts, Venturers, and Sea Scouts at Philmont Scout Ranch. A female crew is planned pending sufficient female registration.
Every two years, the JDCCS sponsors a scholarship for one or more scouts for this trip, covering their registration fee for which is currently $1,575. We are now seeking St. George applications for the 2024 trek.
The program brings together Catholic high school youth from around the country with selected priests, religious, and seminarians for eleven days of backpacking in the context of a vocation retreat.
All applicants MUST:
-
Be a registered youth participant in an active BSA unit (if applicant will be 18 during the trek, must be registered as a youth participant in a Venturing Crew or Sea Scout Ship).
-
Have reached the age of 15 and completed freshman year by July 1, 2024.
-
Be below the age of 19 and will not have graduated high school before May 1, 2024.
-
Meet Philmont's physical, mental and emotional requirements.
-
Not have participated in a previous St. George Trek.
An online application is available at the NCCS below. The application form will be forwarded to your local Catholic Committee on Scouting for its review and approval.
For full information about the trek, see the NCCS website.
