Religious Recognition Ordering
Congratulations on completing your religious recognition! You are ready to order your medal if you have done the following:
Completed all requirements in your workbook for your religious recognition.
Completed your original application for the medal in the front of your workbook, including the collection of all necessary signatures (Board of Review, pastor, leader, etc.) for your particular recognition.
Made a copy or scan of your signed application for your records (you will be sending in the original!)
Plan ahead if you have a parish celebration or Court of Honor planned! ORDERS BY MAIL (required at this time) may take up to three weeks to process. Rush orders are not available.
The order process has two steps:
At this time all orders for religious recognitions are ordered and delivered through U.S. Mail. Please allow a minimum three weeks for delivery. Complete the ORDER-BY-MAIL form below
and mail it into the JDCCS with the original religious recognition application from your workbook and a check to:

What do I do after I receive the medals?
Recognize your scouts! Ideally, this can be done three times—at the unit level in a Court of Honor or other ceremony; at the parish level at Scout Sunday, a school mass, or another appropriate time; and at the diocesan level at the Annual Religious Recognitions Mass and Ceremony. See the diocesan website for more information on how to present the recognitions.
What should I do with my workbook?
Hold onto your workbook as a keepsake and keep the certificate card you will receive with your recognition in a safe place! You may need those materials to prove that you earned your medal at a later date. We are a volunteer committee trying to keep accurate records, and you can help us do so by keeping proof of your scout’s recognitions.
How do I obtain a Scouts BSA religious knot?
Notify your unit’s Advancement Chair to order it from your Council (we do not have these). Also, make sure your Council notes that the knot was earned in your scout’s records.
How do I order a replacement recognition?
Fill out an order form as instructed in Step 1 above. If you have a copy of your certificate card or original application you can include this in your order. Before you send it in, please contact the JDCCS at email@example.com and let us know why you require a replacement and the year the award was earned. We will check our records to verify that the award was earned.
